Valentine's Day Marathon

On February 18, 2018, during the celebrations honoring the patron saint of Terni, the annual Valentine’s Marathon takes place, a prestigious international race covering a distance of 42.195 km. For those less trained, there is also a regional half-marathon with a distance of 21.097 km.

The course has been recently revised to ensure a faster race. The starting point is in the city center of Terni, and the race continues toward the Basilica of Saint Valentine. From there, runners descend into the Valnerina, following the road along the Nera River toward the Marmore Falls. Near the village of Torre Orsina, the half-marathon participants complete their race, while full-marathon runners continue to the medieval town of Ferentillo before retracing their steps along the picturesque Valnerina route back to Terni, where the finish line is set near the City Hall.

With its breathtaking natural scenery in the heart of Umbria and the warm hospitality of the local community, this marathon attracts numerous participants each year, making it a significant event for the entire region.
