Nera River Park
You can wak along the ancient transhumance route through Nera park river, Marmore waterfalls and the high village in Valnerina road. You can choose among many different trails some of them easy for all you family and others tougher. The entire route is not particularly difficult, the signs are recognizable with tables or bands of white and red paint.
Here’s three different paths:
Ferentillo – San Pietro in Valle Abbey
- Difficulty level: Easy
- Hiking time: 3:30 hours
- Elevation gain: 1811 ft.
- We suggest it: It’s an easy trail for those who are used to hiking activities and is searching fot the perfect combination between art and nature.
Colleponte – Umbriano
- Difficulty level: Very Easy
- Hiking time: 45 minutes
- Mileage: 0,86 miles
- Elevation gain: 531,5 ft.
- We suggest it: For all your family to discover an ancient uninhabited village.
Prato Manente – Colle della Pelosa
- Difficulty level: Moderate
- Hiking time: 3 hours
- Mileage: 3,4 miles
- Elevation gain: 1279,5 ft.
- We suggest it: For athletic people that wants to enjoy a great view from the top of the hill.
Martani Trekking
Martani Trekking stretches for about 21 miles from north to south in the central area of Umbria. The paths runs along the Martani ridge from north to south between the village of Giano dell’Umbria and Cesi, on two different ways that intersect at Scoppio where a hiking center is open (Advance reservations are required for visits).
The trekking is divided into 9 stages for a total length of 120 km, with a vertical drop of 5000 m uphill and 4500 m downhill. The entire route is not particularly difficult. The signs are recognizable with tables or bands of white and red paint.
We suggest you two different paths:
Cesi-Sant’Erasmo
Starting from the lovely village of Cesi, climbing on the mountain, in little more than an hour you’ll be in Sant’Erasmo where you’ll find an interesting astronomical observatory, an ancient church and a really beautiful view.
Route through silence
Made for those who enjoy hiking, this long way route of about 8,7 miles starts from historical old town of Massa Martana and continues on the hills north of the village. Along the path it is possible to spot and visit Middle Ages buildings and such as the ancient Monastery of San Pietro sopra le Acque, immersed in a beautiful landscape, the San Fidenzio e Terenzio Abbey and the nice village Castel Rinaldi.
