Orvieto

Orvieto, one of the oldest Etruscan cities in Italy, is built on a high tuff cliff, with its magnificent Duomo standing prominently, captivating visitors from the very first moment. Describing Orvieto in just a few lines is a challenging task! Wandering through the narrow streets of the ancient village is the best way to discover it, but some must-visit sites include the Duomo with its stunning façade and the splendid fresco cycle by Signorelli, the Palazzi dei Papi, the extraordinary St. Patrick’s Well, which plunges 62 meters deep, and the underground Orvieto, featuring caves, olive presses, and wells carved into the rock. A truly fascinating excursion outside the city leads to the Etruscan necropolis.

Our recommendation

Not far from Orvieto and well worth a visit is La Scarzuola, a theatrical city conceived and built by Milanese architect Tommaso Buzzi as his “ideal city.”

Orvieto is about 75 kilometers from our hotel and can be reached by car or public transport. For any advice or information, our staff will be happy to assist you!
